- Become a data geek. (Tip: Plan to rightsize the item master by 30%; ramp up on GS1 planning and education)
- Go on the hunt for real savings. (Tip: Look at high waste areas like Telecom, Print, and Catering).
- Drive out costs and eliminate high waste processes. (Goal: Reduce special requests and match exceptions by 25%)
- Increase contract compliance. (Tip: Conduct a rigorous spend analysis and get a better handle on how to better integrate your GPO catalog)
- Benchmark your costs and true productivity. (Tip: Determine your cost per PO and true productivity. Benchmark against your peers and also outside of your industry)
- Get "Kaizen" (continuous improvement) into the daily vocabulary. (Goal: Conduct a kaizen session with your department in mid January)
